LITTLE LEARNERS Calvary Little Learners 2025 A Strong Start to School Is your child starting school next year? Give them the best possible start with Calvary Little Learners, our engaging and supportive transition-to-school program designed to help children feel confident and excited about their next big step. What is Calvary Little Learners? Calvary Little Learners is a structured program aimed at helping children transition smoothly into their first year of school. Our program provides a nurturing and engaging environment where children develop essential skills for success in school, including social interaction, fine and gross motor skills, early literacy and numeracy foundations, and creative expression. The program is specifically designed for children who will be starting school in Mid-Year Foundation (Term 3, 2025) or the beginning of 2026. Through hands-on activities and guided learning experiences, children will develop the confidence and skills needed for a smooth transition into school life. Program Details For Mid-Year Foundation Students (2025): Program commences Term 2, 2025 Students commence school at Calvary in Term 3 For Students Starting in 2026: Program commences Term 3, 2025 Runs fortnightly on Fridays in Term 3 Moves to weekly sessions in Term 4 Students commence school at Calvary in Term 1, 2026 What Your Child Will Experience At Calvary Little Learners, we focus on play-based learning experiences that foster: Early literacy and numeracy skills- Introducing foundational concepts in a fun and interactive way. Fine and gross motor development- Strengthening coordination through hands-on activities, physical and role play. Social skills and confidence building- Encouraging positive interactions and teamwork with peers. The Berry Street Education Model provides Calvary with whole school approaches such as Morning circle, tracking the speaker, strategies for regulating emotions, knowing our character strengths and strategies for growing relationships and a focus each day on what went well. Restorative practices At Calvary we use a restorative approach to problem solving that helps students and teachers to re-establish safety, rebuild relationships, and repair the harm caused. A restorative approach helps students take greater responsibility for their decisions and develop important life skills such as getting on with others and managing conflict. Restorative practices can also help to prevent behaviours of concern from happening in the first place. Friendly schools Friendly Schools is a whole school approach to help build critical social and emotional skills, create positive, safe and supportive learning environments, and significantly reduce bullying in both primary and secondary schools.
